If you are looking for a beach that combines the raw beauty of Halkidiki with a touch of luxury and cosmopolitan flair, Moudounou Beach in Afytos is your destination. Located to the right of the bay, this beach is where the village's heart beats during the hot summer afternoons.
Crystal Waters & Boho Atmosphere
Moudounou is famous for its turquoise, almost neon-blue waters and the white, fine sand. The beach is slightly more rugged than its neighbor, Varkes, with beautiful rock formations on its sides that are perfect for snorkeling. The atmosphere here is elevated by some of the most iconic beach bars of Kassandra, offering comfortable sunbeds, signature cocktails, and a selection of Mediterranean fusion dishes.
What Makes Moudounou Special?
While families often prefer Varkes, Moudounou attracts a younger crowd and couples seeking a more sophisticated beach experience.
- Snorkeling: Bring your mask! The rocky areas around the beach are full of sea life.
- The View: You can swim while looking up at the traditional stone mansions of Afytos hanging from the cliff.
- Music & Vibes: Most beach bars play ambient or deep house music, creating a perfect summer soundtrack.
How to Access
Access to Moudounou is via the downhill road on the eastern side of Afytos. There is some parking space near the beach bars, but it fills up quickly. If you are staying in the village, a 10-minute walk will get you there, though the climb back up will definitely count as your daily workout!
🌊 Looking for more? While Varkes is charming and local, Sani Beach offers a more high-end, resort-style experience just a short drive away.
